Kerrie Hubbard
Kerrie Hubbard,
Portland area watercolor artist, is truly a Renaissance woman. (www.kerriehubbard.com)
A graduate of Warner Pacific College, with a degree in human
development, Kerrie currently balances a full schedule of writing,
graphic design, web-related photography and violin study among her many
artistic pursuits.
With a deep concern
for the forgotten and helpless, Kerrie has long participated in the Shoe
Box Campaign (www.samaritanspurse.org/OCC_About.asp)
as well as serving on the board for The Father’s Heart Street Ministry
(an outreach to the homeless population of Clackamas County; see
www.tfhstreetministry.com). She supports an
orphan through World Vision, (www.worldvision.org)
and makes lunches once every month for a Clackamas outreach to the
homeless.
Recently, Kerrie’s
heart has begun to stir for the millions of homeless orphans in Africa.
Regardless of the cause, be it war or genocide, AIDS or poverty, these
children desperately need financial help and physical protection in
order to survive. Though she is not wealthy, Kerrie recognizes her
ability to make a difference. She has dedicated the year 2007 to build
an orphanage for eighty of these desperate children.
Kerrie makes her
home in Clackamas, where she attends New Wine Christian church.
Bette Nordberg
In
1977 Bette started her professional life as a physical therapist. In
1990, she began writing and has since published numerous books – both
fiction and non-fiction. (www.bettenordberg.com)
A communicator by profession, Bette brings a fresh perspective to the
ordinary struggles most people face. She’s become a favorite at writer’s
conferences, luncheons and retreats.
Married 31 years,
Bette has four grown children. As she became aware of the desperate
needs in Africa, Bette began to pray about how she could take action on
behalf of children. She found that she could not look at one young face
without thinking of her own children at the same age. Eric, Molly,
Maggie and Peder had never been hungry, never slept in the street, never
prayed they could avoid abduction through one more night. Bette’s
children attended school, dressed warmly, and even attended college. How
could any mother, having given so much to her own children, neglect
these desperately needy children? Bette could not!
Bette was part of
the founding families at Lighthouse Christian Center, Puyallup,
Washington, where she writes and directs drama. (www.lighthouse-cc.org)
Dr. Art Hunt, Senior Pastor. (253-848-2028)
She met Kerrie
through the Oregon Christian Writers Association, when Kerrie committed
to pray for one of Bette’s writing projects. Over the past seven years,
the two have become close friends.
Plans for
4theorphans hatched during a cross state bicycle ride in the summer of
2006. It was then that Kerrie and Bette committed to help. We’ve decided
to include as many people as we can, believing that God blesses those
who help the poor. We want those we love to experience HIS richest
blessings! |
